What is Arbitration?
Arbitration is a form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in which the parties to a dispute agree to submit the issue to a fair, neutral third party. That third party, the arbitrator, listens to both sides of the problem, reviews the evidence presented and renders a decision.
Arbitration can be legally binding, or non-binding. A most important benefit is confidentiality. Although the rules of court are not followed, any or all parties may bring witnesses and/or an attorney – but it’s not necessary. One can represent him/herself.
More and more commercial interests are including arbitration as a means to settle disputes, sales contracts, apartment rentals, employment agreements and more.
